People don’t really talk about this album, and i don’t know why. it’s brilliant.
sure, it’s a little cleaner and polished than the first two, but it’s also more epic. ugh, i love it.
Here’s the stuff.
How It Feels To Be Something On is the only album I’ve ever sat around drinking beers (and singing!) with strangers to - not the only album I’ve ever drank or sang with, but the only one where people I’d met just that day had an voice to offer. This thing is pretty, man. It’s nervous, and gives you the same chills as when someone is speaking way louder than they should be in public about something private or just uncomfortable. This song in particular - that guitar there! - feels like the weight that comes from wisdom at a young age. There’s a cohesive payoff that draws all the strings tight. It gives you just enough time to see how everything connects before the entire nexus dissipates in spite of itself; on to whatever the next thing is.

That album and Rising Tide and Fire Theft and Jeremy’s solo stuff, all gold.
